Confirming 2 windows hosts with errors today, and all other hosts that have also been sent those WUs also generate errors.

We were hoping to get more activity and involvement out of this contest, but it looks like it never took off. We may try to re-initiate it in the future when we have more active volunteers and work to crunch. Thanks for your contributions!!!!

I think that would be a good idea. While there's no work, people don't come to the forum that often. I know I don't, today I just happened to be doing a chek to see what's going on here.

Will check in again sometime.

And this one failed to validate. why?

None of mine validated, although they at least crunched and reported successfully. Unfortunately that means setting No New Work until I see some admin posts about correcting it.

I have 2 machines attached to this project. One it 32-bit XP-Pro and the other is 32-bit Ubuntu. The Ubuntu mahcine is working perfectly fine, but the XP machine is constantly throwing errors. Any insight on the matter?

Does the XP-Pro machine have more than 512MB?
Also there is a patch for the 3.0 windows application that was for 64 bit machines but it seems to have helped some 32 machines as well

I have an XP-Pro P4 3GHz 1GB RAM, which was erroring it's WUs. I've applied the patch and now it doesn't error out, but the results do not validate. Also the CPU time is less than 1 (one) second.

Hi... Will WUs reported after their deadline be considered valid? Thanks.

Also wondering that, now that a WU is now past deadline (about an hour ago), and it completed about 2 days ago.

Strange thing is the server status page doesn't show a problem. I guess that relates to the hardware issues mentioned by Tom.

Hopefully we'll get good news soon.

Hi

Got the following error a few minutes ago when downloading on this host:
http://mindmodeling.org/beta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1040

FWIW other projects are successfully downloading, and Mindmodelling successfully uploaded about an hour earlier and also downloaded about half an hour before that.

8) Questions and Answers : Windows : RESOLVED -- What is the upgrade procedure to version 3? (Message 434)
Posted 6 Mar 2008 by Odd-Rod
I click on the Windows link beside the upgrade news but do not see a download link.

What is the link for the download of version 3 or is the upgrade sftake place automatically?

It will download automatically when new work is fetched.
However, I suggest you set the project to \"No new work\" as the download gives an error at the moment. There is a thread about problems which mentions this.

Rod

The mirror issue is fixed
Sorry about that
Crunch On!

Great stuff, thanks!
Will enable work fetch later today.

The initial app files are around 17MBytes. [These are hosted on mirror sites which has REALLY made a big impact]

After all the files are there:
WUs should only require a small amount of data transfer <100KB or so

If you have observed differently, please let me know what files are downloading and there sizes and I will try to remedy it.

--Jack

Ah, that\'s great news! My first WU should finish in about 27min. I will definitely let it get more WUs as soon as I\'ve crunched some more of my cache away. Oh darn, another project has started crunching instead. Maybe I\'ll add another host.

Thank god you missed the first WUs which were 40MB each! ;-)))
Now they\'re 20MB but will be reduced to (I think) 6MB soon.

Oops, sorry my fault! Thanks for correcting me, I was mixing up the files sizes with AIS (Artificial Intelligence Systems). ;-)))

Glad to hear of the 6MB possibilty at AIS. I haven\'t joined AIS because of those sizes. Oops, discussing other projects here, but I guess that\'s what you get from people who like alpha testing!

Hi all

Just joined. Busy downloading right now - hoping that the large files are the application files and not WUs!

Rod

Hello Rod, welcome to MM@H!

Btw, it\'s the WUs. *grin*

That\'s what I was afraid of! Although, I\'m guessing at least one file was only the application which won\'t need to download every time...

My reason for the concern is that I am on a \'capped\' ADSL line (ie, a fixed amount of data per month), so I need to get a reasonable download-to-crunch ratio. What\'s reasonable? How long is a piece of string? It depends on how much cap I have left and how I\'m feeling towards ATA!

But this is a new project and a new month, so I\'ll try it out for a while.

Thanks for the welcome, Cori.
