The current recommended version of the BOINC manager/client software for windows x86 is BOINC 7.0.28. Note that I am talking about the BOINC software from the BOINC website, not the application from the mindmodeling project.

I sometimes run test versions of the BOINC manager/client and am currently testing BOINC Development version 7.0.42 on one of my machines, which I keep a close watch on. Other projects on that machine are still running fine but I get the following error on mindmodeling

Stderr output

- exit code 195 (0xc3)
wrapper: starting
00:52:47 (6456): wrapper: running ../../projects/mindmodeling.org/1.88_windows_intelx86_ccl.exe (-I ccl.image -l letf.lisp -b -- windows_intelx86 mm_config_file.txt in.txt)
Can't allocate required TLS indexes.
First available index value was 31
app exit status: 0x1
00:52:48 (6456): called boinc_finish

The workunits that I've gotten recently are all "ACT-R cognitive modeling environment leveraging Clozure Common Lisp v1.89 (sse2)". The workunits that were processed under BOINC 7.0.28 all validated and got credit. Beginning with the first workunit that ran under BOINC 7.0.42, they all run 3 to 5 seconds and error out.

This is for computer 30263 running BOINC 7.0.42

As a test, I attached to mindmodeling from a different machine (crunch only) running BOINC 7.0.28 (the current recommended version) and it is currently successfully running and validating the same type of mindmodeling workunits. It is computer 30745.

My guess is that something in the wrapper software needs to be changed or re-linked. You can read the release notes for BOINC 7.0.28 (recommmended version) through the test version 7.0.42 on the BOINC message board, starting with this message in the "BOINC 7 Change Log and news" thread in the "BOINC Core Client" section of the message board. In that thread, the section of each release message that you will want to read is the "Preliminary Change Log". The sections of each message above that are almost totally boilerplate.

Thanks David! It definitely sounds as though there is an incompatibility with the new version of BOINC. I'll keep you updated as soon as I find out more information (and/or fix the problem).
