Message 697 - Posted: 4 May 2008, 10:10:58 UTC

Just tried to connect to the project with a machine running Windows 08 Server. The first WU ran about 30 seconds and mm_sbcl.exe stopped (see message below), and it did the usual showing the WU 100% complete, which I expected as has happened with each new client I\'ve connected. The second WU ran about 10 minutes which is also normal, and usually after that one starts, I can enable the others. Well at the end of the 10 minutes I get the popup message:

mm_sbcl.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

If I click Close Program, the WU immediately goes to 100% and gives a validate error again. If I don\'t do anything, and just leave the error message on the screen, the WU happily crunches along.

I detached from the project, and attached again with the same result.

I am going to bed now, but will leave it running without closing the popups (and with it the mm_sbcl.exe file), and see if the WU\'s validate properly tonight. Despite the error messages, if I don\'t let windows close the file, they seem to be progressing along and crunching.

scratch that, as I\'m sitting here watching before turning it off for the night, If I don\'t choose close program... the progress indicator shows
2.372
2.373
2.374
2.375
and immediately loops back starting over at 2.372

just going in a little loop not going anywhere.

I will play with it some more tomorrow if I have time, but will have to leave it on a different project for tonight.

Did it ever continue?
I suspect it is the same problem as this bad percent done estimate at the beginning of a work unit

Thanks, I\'ll give it a shot, will probably be at the least a couple days before I get back to it, working on another project at the moment, got company coming in tonight, and a wife that\'s due any day now. But as soon as I have some computer time, I\'ll try again. Wasn\'t sure if it was an issue with 08 server, or not, but will definately post whatever I find.

Hmm... still no luck with this machine.
If I get time this weekend I will throw a better debugger on it and see if I can get more detailed info. The one thing I did find interesting is that there were these two lines:
c:\\users\\jack\\desktop\\mm\\boinc\\api\\boinc_api.c
and
c:\\users\\jack\\desktop\\mm\\boinc\\lib\\parse.c

Well it seems, that the problem still exists. Just got several errors. Windows 2008 Eventlog says:

German Message:
Fehlerhafte Anwendung mm_sbcl.exe, Version 0.0.0.0, Zeitstempel 0x47a4b4a8, fehlerhaftes Modul unknown, Version 0.0.0.0, Zeitstempel 0x00000000, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000005, Fehleroffset 0x092a0f25, Prozess-ID 0xe6c, Anwendungsstartzeit 01c8f8a282e403b3.

Translated it will be:
Application with Error mm_sbcl.exe, Version 0.0.0.0, Timestamp 0x47a4b4a8, errornous Modul unknown, Version 0.0.0.0, Timestamp 0x00000000, Exceptioncode 0xc0000005, Erroroffset 0x092a0f25, Process-ID 0xe6c, Applicationstarttime 01c8f8a282e403b3.

Errors in Workitem-Log can be seen at:
Task-Details

The box works fine with other projects (e.g. POEM, SIMAP). Windows 64-Bit patch is applied. Current Boinc-Version is 6.2.14 for windows_x86_64.

Is there someone out there who can help me? The reported memory leak cannot be the problem because there are 4 GB free memory (of 16 total).

Thanx and Greetings
Kai
