OK, I looked around a bit but did not see that post, unfortunately all of my hosts are Win7 x64, So I am just going to have to take a hiatus from this project until it's sorted, was looking forward to get a few more credits here, had been a while. Good Luck, will check back on down the road. |

Tasks at 6 hour mark, no progress, no CPU usage
(Message 1942)
Posted 472 days ago by Laura_Stevens
Got some tasks last night, many of them finished quickly and reported, but the 4 that are currently crunching are past the 6 hour mark, have said 100% for at least 5 hours, and are using no CPU according to task manager, should I abort these, or let them run ? Probably not much help, but grabbed this before suspending them. http://anthropicdreams.com/wrapper_6.12_windows_intelx86.DMP |

Tasks do not show in task list
(Message 1254)
Posted 1551 days ago by Laura_Stevens
It seems that when you click on tasks, it does not show them all. The same is true for clicking on tasks from the hosts page. Some of the tasks are shown, I see 1 in progress and several recently completed, but they only represent a portion of those currently crunching or recently completed. |

Cannot change signature
(Message 1229)
Posted 1579 days ago by Laura_Stevens
On the forum preferences page, I wanted to update my signature. When I enter the new information, no change occurs, I've tried entering nothing, tried changing the info, and repeatedly it returns to what it was before. This one has been growing over time, and has gotten to be more clutter than a signature, would be nice to put something smaller there. Thanks :) |

Invalid Access to Memory location (0x3e6)
(Message 1228)
Posted 1579 days ago by Laura_Stevens
This error occurs when a program tries to access a section of memory that it either cannot access, or does not contain the information it's looking for. Since it shows 0 CPU time, it could be one of several things, none of which you can really do anything about on your end unfortunately. :/ It is still beta software, so I think bugs like this should be expected, in time it will likely be ironed out. Since this happens immediately, you are not really losing any CPU time. It would be difficult to speculate what it is, but possibly a .dll that hasn't loaded fully, or another thread has used and not released yet, or one of several other things. Some of these can be overcome with mapping, or double checks, but the specific cause needs to be nailed down first, and that can often be tedious and aggravating work. |

Help! all my text links have been replaced
(Message 838)
Posted 1792 days ago by Laura_Stevens
I logged into the My Account page and was greeted by scary graphics reminiscent of a PHP website manager I use. I pinched myself twice, I think they are really there!!! hehe, just kidding.. nice job, this project has a lot of little nice things on the site that make it stand out from other projects. The individual project status bars on the homepage are imo the best idea ever... but the graphics on the my account page are pretty cool too. |

What happened?
(Message 834)
Posted 1793 days ago by Laura_Stevens
Not yet, give it another month ;) hehe. yes, there are a lot of computers that could handle it, but realistically how many dual cores have 3GB or better, and how many quads have 5GB or better? The last thing a young project needs is to start driving away crunchers with high memory requirements. IMHO anything higher than 512MB is too high. If I threw everything I had at this project: Name CPUs RAM OK?
Aphrodite 1(4) 3072 NO
Phaedra 1(4) 2048 NO
Andromeda 2(4) 2048 NO
Abaddon 1(4) 3584 NO
Persephone 1(4) 2048 NO
Ogmios 1(2) 1024 NO
Eros 1(2) 1024 NO
Daphne 1(2) 3072 YES
Goliath 1(2) 2048 MAYBE
Amphitrite 1 1024 MAYBE
PTB1 1 1024 MAYBE
PTB2 1 1024 MAYBE
Callisto 1 512 NO The only one that would for sure be OK with 1GB memory requirement is my laptop, the Maybe\'s are all boat anchors which are on the way out... a 2.8G celeron, a couple P4\'s and a AMD64 X2 3800+. Granted some of my systems are a bit tight on RAM, but high requirements would drive out my most productive machines. I imagine others would be in the same situation. |

For quad core units that run this project exclusively though it can be a huge problem.. 4 cores = 4GB of RAM just for the project, + the overhead for the OS and anything else running would need atleast 5GB. Not many systems will be able to run that efficiently, and not everyone has an OS that can even address that much RAM, let alone have that much. |

Hmm... still no luck with this machine. If I get time this weekend I will throw a better debugger on it and see if I can get more detailed info. Thought I would start a thread where users can contribute links to news stories that may be related to the project. Albeit loosely related in most cases, there are some interesting articles that pop up, and might be of interest to those reading into the science of the project. Though there won\'t be many directly related in the mainstream news I\'m sure there will be many interesting stories in the same field, and none the less interesting. |

Hello, Did you suspend it upon first attaching to the project, and before it showed a % complete ? I did have a similar problem once, the machine downloaded 4 and immediately started 3 WU\'s on first attach. I suspended three and allowed the first to run through and crash, started the second, allowed it to run through it\'s 10 minute initialization. After it started showing a % I started the 3rd again, and it tried to initialize again. I assume it started to do so already before I had suspended it, and merely finished what it had started. Had to detach from and reattach to the project on that machine to straighten it out. |

scratch that, as I\'m sitting here watching before turning it off for the night, If I don\'t choose close program... the progress indicator shows Thanks, I\'ll give it a shot, will probably be at the least a couple days before I get back to it, working on another project at the moment, got company coming in tonight, and a wife that\'s due any day now. But as soon as I have some computer time, I\'ll try again. Wasn\'t sure if it was an issue with 08 server, or not, but will definately post whatever I find. |

Apparently Jack left the back door unlocked and all the reserve work units slipped out during the hours of darkness and headed to all points of the compass. I had dedicated two dual-core machines to MM to get a good start as a Boinc Synergy team member but the lack of work has stopped my progress. hehe, I think a couple teams made this their project of the month, so a lot mroe demand for WU\'s this weekend. Oh well, I\'m sure it\'s a good thing in the big picture, means works getting done. Sorry:Transmitted the same message twice; still learning to use the laptop touch pad. Those things drive me crazy.. |
