Message 1924 - Posted: 4 Jan 2012, 6:06:35 UTC

I joined up a few days ago and since then I have not recieved any WU's. I checked the server status and it shows that there are WU's available. I'm running this:

AuthenticAMD AMD Phenom(tm) II N970 Quad-Core Processor [Family 16 Model 5 Stepping 3]
(4 processors)
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1.

I am able to recieve WU from other projects. Just none from here.
Any suggestions?

The front page shows no work available ...

Current Jobs
None

... And the server status page at http://mindmodeling.org/beta/server_status.php is not properly configured, so does not show anything (this needs fixing admins!).

Not sure where you are seeing that there is work available :)

We'll have a decent stream of work to be crunched this afternoon. As for the "server status", I am not sure where you are seeing that figure reported. As of right now, the only indicator for available work is the front page under "Current Jobs", as ChertseyAI suggested.

Server Status page will be fixed soon.

Server status page is now a link on the main page from the navigation pane (see"project Resources"). I hope that helps :)

According to the server status page and the current jobs indicator on the homepage there is work available, but I don't seem to be getting any. Maybe this has to do with the server outage a few days ago as the average turnaround time in the computer details page (http://mindmodeling.org/beta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=22646) shows 1.72 days which is longer than the 1 day deadline for workunits in this project.

I just got some work, but only to Linux machines. So it maybe a linux only set of tasks. The project has done that before as well.

Yes, your assumptions are correct. The jobs prefixed with "veksler" are Linux-only tasks. This will happen occasionally on a per-job basis. The new Change_Signal task, however, is platform agnostic. When I get the chance, I'll add some sort of indicator that specifies these dependencies for each job.

Yep, lots of new work. Question though. Should these take 3+ hours now? I've got some running 4 hours or more. I aborted one thinking it was taking too long, but then realized most of these tasks are taking this long.

One of our models (veksler) seems to have a very wide range of run-times per segment.
The parameters we ran in our testing environment and the timings collected from those simulations seem not to be a good representative sampling.
I have cancelled all the unsent work for that particular job and am looking at the actual computation times required for the work that was completed.
This should help a lot in bring the workunits down to a more manageable size.

Thanks,
Jack

OK. I'll abort the ones that have long run times. The ones that were running at 3-4 hours are now at 12+ hours. CPU is still at 100%, so they are doing something. They just don't ever seem to complete.
