A patch for Tiger is now available
Download Here

  • Patch Contains:
mm_sbcl - Steel Bank Common Lisp - 1.0.15 compiled for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
    sbcl.core - 1.0.15 lisp core file

  • Patch Directions:
Simple replace existing versions of mm_sbcl and sbcl.core with these new versions and fix permissions

    • Replace files
The files to replace can be found in the sbcl1.0.13-x86-darwin directory in the projects directory.
      i.e. /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/MindModeling.org_beta/sbcl1.0.13-x86-darwin/
    • Fix permissions
      cd /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/projects/MindModeling.org_beta/sbcl1.0.13-x86-darwin/
      sudo chown boinc_project:boinc_project *
    • Restart boinc
(one core should start processing to prepare things and then shortly after the rest will start)

  • Acknowledgments:
A special thank you to jedirock (MTughan) and zombie67.

    • jedirock: identified/fixed the code in Steel Bank Common Lisp that was causing complications
issues for Mac OS X 10.4.
    • zombie67: relentlessly searched for a way to get MM working on Tiger as well testing various
solutions and debugging the patch process

When will the new app be released? I have a remote machine that I can attach when the default app works.

Been real busy fixing up server code.
Probably not until late next week.

Any news on when the patch will no longer be needed?

Actually, probably next week
The new version is really close.
- The Multi-core issues have been fixed
ie all but 1 waiting until the first core finishes processing for its first WU
- Easier integration of new lisp version (this was the fix needed for integrating the patch)
- Better communication between Lisp and the BOINC app so the computation errors have more meaning and occur properly
- plus a few other smaller things

What is left:
1 thing - cpu-time accounting not resetting to zero when boinc is stopped (computer reset)
This means that my checkpointing has to include cpu-time data

Starting with version 3.4 -- the patch is no longer necessary.
